Notre Dame Refugee Centre

Notre Dame Refugee Centre offers an advice and support service for refugees. Aims to support asylum seekers and refugees so that they can play a full role in society and achieve a better quality of life.

Offers a warm meal twice-weekly at their Drop-In Café.

Gives clothing to destitutes; travel expenses to the centre may be reimbursed if you qualify as destitute.

Specialist advice covers:

  • Asylum and immigration
  • Housing
  • Benefits and social services
  • Debt and managing money
  • Administrative problems

Classes

Runs English (ESOL) classes, IT classes, social and creative activities.

Advice

Drop in advice sessions on a first come first served basis are held on Mondays and Thursdays: please arrive early (at least 8 a.m.) as spaces are limited and the service is very popular.

The centre does not provide advice or information online, via email or telephone; there is no telephone booking system.   

Translation

Volunteers may be able to help you with basic translation, but note that the centre does not have official translators onsite.

Help with translations, filling in forms and developing telephone skills.
