Mermaids

Mermaids is a support group for young people and for families dealing with their children's gender identity issues. They work with other organisations across the UK, and in some cases internationally, to try to support, educate, and alleviate suffering.

They also provide information and mailing lists for families and young people.

They train and support health professionals, schools, colleges, police forces and others; they also speak at conferences on transgender issues.

Mermaids work with GIRES (Gender Identity Research and Education Society) on their Toolkit for Schools on Combating Transphobic Bullying, and their NHS booklet on Medical Care for Gender Variant children and young people.
