Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI)

JCWI is an independent national organisation which exists to campaign for justice in immigration, nationality and refugee law and policy.

They offer a drop-in Immigration advice surgery on Tuesday mornings between 10am-12pm noon. They can only advise the first 6 persons due to limited capacity. Phone to book a drop-in slot. Fees apply.

The JCWI can take legal aid clients and also represent those individuals who do not qualify for public funding, privately, at very competitive rates.

JCWI trains hundreds of advisers and practitioners with varying levels of expertise, from experienced solicitors to new volunteers in community groups. Their programme ranges from half-day sessions to five-day courses. Courses are provided at a variety of levels, from basic to advanced.
